Addams Family - The Musical Auditions

STAGE RIGHT of Texas announces auditions for the musical comedy Addams Family - The Musical. Auditions will consist of reading and singing.

AUDITION DATES & TIMES:
July 25 and 26 at 7 pm (Monday and Tuesday)
The historic Crighton Theatre
234 N. Main St.
Conroe, TX 77301

See here for more details on the show. In the kooky, upside-down world of the Addams Family, to be sad is to be happy, to feel pain is to feel joy, and death and suffering are the stuff of their dreams. Nonetheless, this quirky family still has to deal with many of the same challenges faced by any other family, and the spookiest nightmare faced by every family creates the focus Lippa, Brickman, and Elice's musical: the Addams kids are growing up. The Addamses have lived by their unique values for hundreds of years and Gomez and Morticia, the patriarch and matriarch of the clan, would be only too happy to continue living that way. Their dark, macabre, beloved daughter Wednesday, however, is now an eighteen year-old young woman who is ready for a life of her own. She has fallen in love with Lucas Beineke, a sweet, smart boy from a normal, respectable Ohio family - the most un-Addams sounding person one could be! And to make matters worse, she has invited the Beinekes to their home for dinner. In one fateful, hilarious night, secrets are disclosed, relationships are tested, and the Addams family must face up to the one horrible thing they've managed to avoid for generations: change.

Performances are on Oct. 21-Nov. 6, 2016!

Treasure Island

The Crighton Theatre Summer Camp will perform Treasure Island this year. The camp will perform on August 4-7 PM at the Crighton Theatre.

When Treasure Island premiered Off-Broadway, it received unanimous critical acclaim. Parents Magazine considered it, "First rate all the way, a delightful experience," and the New York Times called it an "inventive classic." Treasure Island is certainly one of the most durable adventure stories of all time, with the villainous Long John Silver following young Jim across the ocean to search out a buried fortune on Treasure Island. You must see the delightful adaptation!

The Music Man

Funny, warm, romantic and touching, The Music Man is family entertainment at its best. Meredith Willson's six-time Tony Award winning musical comedy has been entertaining audiences since 1957 and is a family-friendly story to be shared with every generation.

The Music Man follows fast-talking traveling salesman Harold Hill as he cons the people of River City, Iowa, into buying instruments and uniforms for a boys' band he vows to organize despite the fact he doesn't know a trombone from a treble clef. His plans to skip town with the cash are foiled when he falls for Marian the librarian, who transforms him into a respectable citizen by curtain's fall.

Christian Community Theater's performances are at the Crighton August 18-20, 2016!

Blithe Spirit

The smash comedy hit of the London and Broadway stages, this much-revived classic from the playwright of Private Lives offers up fussy, cantakerous novelist Charles Condomine, re-married but haunted (literally) by the ghost of his late first wife, the clever and insistent Elvira who is called up by a visiting "happy medium", one Madame Arcati. As the (worldly and un-) personalities clash, Charles' current wife Ruth is accidentally killed, "passes over", joins Elvira and the two "blithe spirits" haunt the hapless Charles into perpetuity.

Performances are on Sept. 2-18, 2016!

Operation Pets Alive

During the run of Legally Blonde we will be collecting donations for Operation Pets Alive! who believe that many in our community share our values with regard to homeless dogs and cats. Therefore, we see a need to increase community awareness and community involvement regarding the No-Kill movement and the plight of homeless dogs and cats in our community. We want to help people "do the right thing" for animals.

Operation Pets Alive! (OPA) is an all-volunteer, non-profit organization that depends on generous donations from individuals, corporations, and foundations to fund our programs, supplies, and operational expenses. We do not receive any money from the government.

OPA's Foster/Adoption program provides animals in its care with food, shelter, veterinary care and the promotion and matching necessary to find a forever family. OPA's Trap, Neuter, Return of Feral Cats and Targeted Spay and Neuter programs help to dramatically limit the number of homeless dogs and cats entering our local shelters. Both programs require funds for low-cost spay and neuter surgeries, equipment and transportation charges.
