A Christmas Story

Humorist Jean Shepherd's memoir of growing up in the midwest in the 1940s follows 9-year-old Ralphie Parker in his quest to get a genuine Red Ryder BB gun under the tree for Christmas. Ralphie pleads his case before his mother, his teacher and even Santa Claus himself at Goldblatt's Department Store. The consistent response: "You'll shoot your eye out."

All the elements from the beloved motion picture are here, including the family's temperamental exploding furnace; Scut Farkas, the school bully; the boys' experiment with a wet tongue on a cold lamppost; the Little Orphan Annie decoder pin; Ralphie's father winning a lamp shaped like a woman's leg in a net stocking; Ralphie's fantasy scenarios and more. Make this story part of your holiday traditions!

Please bring personal care items for seniors for donation to the Salvation Army such as soap, shampoo, deodorant, laundry detergent, dish soap, etc. when you come to A Christmas Story from December 6-22, 2013 at the Crighton Theatre!

Rob Garrett - King of Diamonds

MCPAS brings a Neil Diamond tribute show to the Crighton which has never been seen before! Like his legendary counterpart, Rob was born and raised in New York City. His main musical influences while growing up were Elvis, the Beatles, and quite naturally Neil Diamond.

Rob first saw Neil Diamond in his first Las Vegas concert engagement when he made his Las Vegas debut opening the "Theater for the Performing Arts" at the Aladdin Hotel/Casino in 1976.

On May 28th 2008, Rob was honored by the Entertainment Network by receiving the 'Male Musical Tribute Artist Award' at the annual Celebrity Impersonator Convention in Las Vegas, marking the first time ever, a 'Neil Diamond' act has won such an honor. Don't miss Rob's tribute to Neil Diamond on Jan 18, 2014 at 7:30 PM!

Literacy Volunteers of America

We believe the ability to read, write and communicate in English is critical to personal freedom. We offer free confidential one-to-one and small group literacy training by a trained LVA volunteer to Montgomery County residents who desire to improve reading, writing and English communication skills.

If you can read and write and can spare a few hours a week, you can be a tutor! Literacy Volunteers of America - Montgomery County (LVA-MC) was established in 1989 to improve the reading and writing skills of those who request it.

English as a Second Language instruction was added in 1995. Currently, we conduct ESL classes at various church, school, and community center locations throughout Montgomery County. Workplace Literacy classes are offered to employers who will allow time and facilities for tutoring on their work site.

We will be looking for volunteers at the Crighton during the run of A Christmas Story. Come and visit us!

Bravo Company Showcase

The members of Bravo Company presented their Fall Showcase on Saturday, Nov. 16 at the Crighton Theatre. The annual showcase allows the students to practice their presentation skills much like a recital.

While you get to see variety of comedy sketches and singing in less than one hour, the primary purpose is to provide opportunities for our students to showcase their talents and demonstrate what they have learned in their classes.
