Who is the $5 Dog?

STAGE RIGHT's summer production will be "Cheaper By the Dozen". It's the true story about an efficiency expert who runs his large family the way he runs a factory. Any method he can find to save time or energy is what he wants. The title comes from one of Frank Sr.'s favorite jokes: it often happened that when he and his family were out driving and stopped at a red light, a pedestrian would ask, "Hey, Mister! How come you got so many kids?" Gilbreth would pretend to ponder the question carefully, and then, just as the light turned green, would say, "Well, they come cheaper by the dozen, you know," and drive off.

The play is set in the 1920s, as remembered by Ernestine and Frank, children Nos. 2 and 3 in a family of 12. They reflect on their rigidly structured but very happy childhood.

So who is this dog and what does he have to do with the show? Check out Harley's story in the June 2009 article in Dock Line Magazine and find out! Performance dates are July 31-August 16, 2009 at 8 PM on Fridays and Saturdays and 2 PM on Sundays.
