Barefoot in the Park

Barefoot in the Park opened at the Crighton Theatre on Friday, February 16, 2012 to incredible audiences. Visit the picture gallery or magazine articles to see what you missed. For a behind the scenes discussion check out the WaymoreFM interview.

As in any comedy, it helps if the material is good. But good materal isn't enough to make a great show. The actors in Barefoot rise to the occasion by finding the humor rooted in their characters. A conservative husband, a bubbly wife, a reticent mother-in-law and a beret-sporting squatter provide Simon with plenty of ammunition for this situational comedy. Yes, the 1960's represented a time of political unrest and innocence lost. But Barefoot in the Park's narrative evokes nostalgia for an era that changed America.

Bring nonperishable food items to support the Montgomery County Food Bank and see the light-hearted comedy Barefoot in the Park from Feb. 17- March 4, 2012 at the Crighton Theatre! Every patron who brings an item for donation will receive a $5 discount coupon on adult tickets for the Carol Burnett Show or Cinderella.

The Highwaymen (Tribute Show)

Michael Moore (Willie Nelson) was born and raised in McKinney, Texas. His passion for Willie's music came at an early age. Through many years of study and about a million "Whiskey Rivers" later, Moore's ability to capture the country music legend's voice and style are considered by many to be the best in the world.

Bob Gill (Waylon Jennings) has been singing since his early pre school years and has performed in a varied phases from a one man band show incorporating the use of floor bass, guitar and beat box to a six piece cover country band. He has performed in Nashville and other venues across North America attracting growing audiences along the way. During his travels, he increasingly became compared to Waylon in both appearance and vocal style.

Alan Dryman (Johnny Cash) exudes a style only Cash could have. Through immense respect, dignity and love for Johnny Cash, the man, Dryman sings the melodies and music of his American legend. As an accomplished musician and singer, Dryman brings Johnny Cash back to perform songs such as "Walk the Line" and Daddy Sang Bass." The Legend of Johnny Cash lives on through the melodic voice of Alan Dryman.

Come and see this tribute to the Highwaymen on March 24, 2011 at 5 and 8 PM.

Connie Smith

Dolly Parton once noted, famously, that there were just three real female singers around: Barbra Streisand, Linda Ronstadt, and Connie Smith. "The rest of us," she said, "are only pretending." It's less-well known that when Ms. Smith was introduced to Keith Richards, he grabbed fellow Connie Smith fan (and Rolling Stone) Ron Wood and brought him up to meet her, too, exclaiming "She's the real deal!"

See Connie Smith in concert at the historic Crighton Theatre on April 7, 2012 at 8 PM!

At Carol Burnett's request, we will be collecting funds for the Teddy Bear Cancer Foundation (TBCF). TBCF provides financial assistance families in the midst of cancer treatment. In some cases they take terminally ill patients and their families to Disneyland.

12 Angry Men

Henry Fonda and an all-star cast made this drama famous. A 19-year-old man has just stood trial for the fatal stabbing of his father. It looks like an open-and-shut case until one of the jurors begins opening the others' eyes to the facts. The trial becomes personal with each juror revealing his or her own character as the various testimonies are re-examined, the murder is re-enacted and a new murder threat is born before their eyes! Tempers get short, arguments grow heated, and the jurors become 12 angry men. The jurors' final verdict and how they reach it in tense scenes that will electrify you and keep you on the edge of their seats.

Performances are at Huntsville Community Theatre from April 20-29, 2012.
